» The Hum Rider Jeep takes over traffic
Mar 24, 2017 - 12:30 AM - by Jimmyb

hum rider Jeep Grand Cherokee Overlander, jeep legs, Jeep wrangler pickup 2019, jeep wrangler ute 2019If you have been away from social media the last week, maybe you missed out on seeing the Hum Rider Grand Cherokee take on a traffic jam, but is it just CGI trickery?

If you're Verizon, how do you promote your new Hum platform? This is a system that uses an OBD dongle to transform your older model car by adding accessible diagnostic information, geo fencing, road-side assistance, and location and speed tracking via your smartphone.

Apparently, the way to market this is to turn a Jeep Grand Cherokee and into a traffic-defying sky ride. That's what the marketing team at Thinkmodo has done here for Hum.

» NO Jeep Wrangler pickup until late 2019
Mar 06, 2017 - 9:55 PM - by Jimmyb

Jeep wrangler pickup 2019, jeep wrangler ute 2019Jeep in January confirmed that a pickup truck will be added to its lineup. Now its CEO Mike Manley has confirmed to The Detroit News that the pickup will enter production in late 2019.

That’s significantly later than previously thought as the vehicle it will be based on, Jeep’s redesigned “JL” Wrangler, will arrive towards the end of this year.

Manley has also revealed that Jeep is considering one of its historic nameplates for the pickup. Previous Jeep pickups have included the Comanche, Gladiator (later J-Series) and original Willys Jeep Truck. Gladiator is the likely fit given the name was used on a Wrangler-based pickup concept rolled out in 2005.

All of Jeep’s pickups have been built at Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s plant in Toledo, Ohio. The plant is currently responsible for Jeep’s Wrangler and Cherokee but the Cherokee will be moved to FCA’s Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois later this year to make way

» Jeep news for the start of 2017
Feb 20, 2017 - 11:30 PM - by Jimmyb

Jeeps 2018 Jeep WranglerThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s new headlight test was pretty gnarly for small SUVs—as in, none of the 21 tested earned a “good” rating, and the org said two-thirds of them rated “poor” (“acceptable” was the other option).

The testing procedure included using a special device to measure projection and glare from low beams. Those receiving a poor rating included the ’16 Jeep Patriot, Renegade, and Wrangler.

FCA is handing out more than a billion dollars—but not to you. It’s going to the assembly plants in Ohio (Toledo plant) and Illinois (Belvidere plant), where Jeeps are made. What’s this new garbage? A “Jeep slap” is when you slap a person in your vehicle when another Jeep is seen on the road? We’ll stick with the famous “Jeep wave” to another Jeep driver, and do the same inside the Jeep too.

The next premium Jeep? There

» 2017 Jeep Compass Shows Big Improvement in Fuel Economy
Feb 20, 2017 - 11:28 PM - by Jimmyb

Jeeps Compass Fuel Economy 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk wins Starting with the 2014 Cherokee and continuing with the 2015 Renegade, Jeep has methodically transformed the lower-priced end of its lineup, and the effort shows. We recently had a chance to drive the all-new 2017 Compass, not to be confused with the outgoing Compass, which is also being sold as a 2017 model.

The difference in style and refinement over its predecessor is stark, to say the least. Another area in which the Compass shows a major improvement, and one sure to be appreciated by potential buyers, is fuel economy.

Thanks to the new Tigershark 2.4L I-4 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, the new Compass is rated at 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway for the 4WD version, a massive improvement over the outgoing equivalent model’s 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.

Like its little brother Renegade, the Compass is based on FCA’s Small US Wide platform, also

Leaked 2018 Wrangler Grille First LookJeeps Compass Fuel Economy 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk wins The first images of the 2018 Wrangler’s Grille have been leaked, showing a nice design departure from the JK’s grille. Originally reported on by the folks over at JL Wrangler Forums, the new JL grille is a more condensed, simpler version of the outgoing JK’s grille.

Photos of the grille were leaked directly to JL Wrangler Forums from an anonymous source who is allegedly a sheet metal fabricator. While this may be somewhat hard to confirm, the leaked grille seems to match up and back earlier design leaks and spy photos of the 2018 Wrangler’s front end.

2018 Wrangler Grille Design Highlights include major changes and difference of the new JL Wrangler grille are: No “Jeep” name/badging anywhere on the grille, No turn signals in the grille, widened 7-slot design with slight bend in each slatand recessed

» Counterfeit Manufacturers Caught at 2016 SEMA Show, U.S. Marshals Serve Papers
Nov 03, 2016 - 10:10 PM - by Jimmyb

sema 2016 Jeep Sema Coverage VegasJp Magazine contributor Traci Clark was a first-hand witness to an offshore exhibitor being served papers at the 2016 SEMA Show.

Well-known U.S.-based Jeep accessory manufacturer Omix-ADA noticed suspiciously familiar products being displayed at the show by Unity 4WD Accessories Co., Limited of Guangzhou, China.

The company filed a civil complaint with the U.S. District Court, and obtained a summons and civil action for a temporary restraining order and seizure of goods. U.S. Marshals served papers to the company’s representatives, and ordered the display dismantled and the goods in question removed.

From what we could gather from the photos we could get of the papers, it appears the company’s representatives will be required to appear in U.S. court within 21 days for a hearing.

Omix-ADA director of marketing Henk Van Dongen said that the company has noticed more

Throw into that tri-generational engineering concoction an until-today unconfirmed new powerplant, and you have the Jeep CJ66. That is Mopar’s latest concept Jeep on display for the very first time at the 2016 SEMA Show, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A two-inch suspension lift helps fit 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires wrapped around Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) 17-inch beadlock wheels underneath the oversized “concept” fenders of the CJ66.

» Jeep Grand Wagoneer to tackle Range Rover
Oct 08, 2016 - 1:12 AM - by Jimmyb

Jeep Grand Wagoneer AustraliaThe Range Rover-rivalling Jeep Grand Wagoneer is due in 2018 and could push Jeep into the 80k price bracket

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer luxury SUV is moving closer to reality with Jeep planing to push its brand into the premium SUV space occupied by the likes of the Range Rover, Porsche's Cayenne and BMW's X5 in Europe. Speaking at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Jeep boss Mike Manley outlined that while Jeep will be exploring smaller SUVs, the brand would also like to bring back the Wagoneer as a luxury model to sit at the top of the range.

He told us “the Grand Wagoneer concept is moving forward. It’s an exciting nameplate to bring back, I think.”

Manley believes a Grand Wagoneer can compete with the Range Rover and models like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, adding “I don’t think there’s a maximum price ceiling per se for Jeep. If you look at the upper end of the segment in the

» 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and Limited revealed
Oct 03, 2016 - 1:28 AM - by Jimmyb

The new 2017 Jeep Compass TrailhawkJeep on Monday unveiled its 2017 Compass, the replacement for both the existing Compass as well as the Patriot.

Jeep only released a handful of photos following the unveiling but more photos plus video have since emerged on the automaker’s media site for Brazil.

The new photos reveal the Trailhawk off-roader as well as the Limited model.

As expected, the Compass Trailhawk gets a number of Jeep’s familiar off-roading kit such as tow hooks, raised suspension and the Jeep Selec-Terrain driving modes selector. The vehicle also likely adopts the Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 systems from the Renegade Trailhawk. The two vehicles are platform mates, after all.
